The New Age in Glastonbury Field Trip (2004)
The following is the curriculum of a field trip held earlier in 2004... details may change
Welcome to Glastonbury and to this field trip. This trip is designed in a way that enables you to get a range of introductory sessions on key aspects of the new age and contemporary spirituality. It is also designed, for those who want it, to have an optional experiential dimension. Each 3-hour session is divided into a 2 hour compulsory session (which will only involve teaching and discussion) followed by a 1-hour optional experiential or practical session. On Tuesday afternoon there will be some healers, and other therapists available to see people if they wish. IT IS VITAL THAT THESE SESSIONS ARE SEEN AS OPTIONS, AND NO ONE MUST FEEL, OR BE PUT, UNDER ANY PRESSURE TO TAKE PART IN THEM.
The seminar/discussion sessions are designed to allow you to explore further things you have seen, heard or experienced during your visit, as well as being there for you to begin your own critical reflection on what you come across.
It is important to remember that for the people you will be taught by, the things they share with you are very precious and special to them. To put it simply, we will be entering another’s sacred territory, and in doing so we must treat it with respect. This does not mean you have to believe what you are told, or even like it, but it does mean that we respect the people telling us, and their right to believe. It is important that you feel free to discuss and argue about any of the ideas or beliefs you hear about, but that people, as individuals, are never attacked or put down.
The most important thing is that you enjoy your time here and get as much out of the experience as you can.
