Priestess of Avalon - In the Heart of the Goddess

Year One Programme

Circle One
Introduction and Meeting the Morgens - Coming face to face with the Dark Goddess

Opening our circle we journey to meet the Morgens, the Nine Underworld Sisters who rule the Isle of Avalon. We let go of the old and plant seeds of intention for the year we will spend together. We create a ritual space and altar to the ancestral Keepers of the Goddess's wisdom and drink from Her Cauldron of Inspiration and Regeneration.

Circle Two
Ana's Dreaming Womb - Air Initiation

In the stillness of winter we explore the presence of the Goddess in the sacred landscape of Avalon honouring Ana, ancient Goddess of the British Isles, from whose Womb all creation springs. We learn how to perform cleansing and protection ceremonies for ourselves and others and begin to create our ceremonial robes.

Circle Three
Brighde the Maiden - Quickening the Seeds of Inspiration

We make Brighde Dolls in honour of the Maiden Goddess of healing, poetry and smithcraft and praise her in our poetry and songs at Bride's Mound. We ask that the seeds of intent which we planted at Samhain are quickened by the touch of Her white rod and together will perform a powerful self-healing ceremony.

Circle Four
Artha's Fire Initiation - Making a Magical Wand

At the Spring Equinox we connect to the cosmic fire of Artha the Great She Bear in the heavens. We learn the secrets of the Tor Labyrinth and honour the springtime of the Goddess's bounteous Nature. We explore the natural cycles of creativity in our own lives and make ourselves a Magic Wand.

Circle Five
Riding with Rhiannon - Journeying between the Worlds

At Beltane when the veils are thin in Avalon, we learn to travel with Rhiannon between the Upper, Middle and Lower worlds for inspiration, soul retrieval and healing. We discuss the power of our sexual natures, learning of the Goddess as Lover. We make a ceremonial mask and headdress to wear in ritual.

Circle Six
The Lady of the Lake - Initiation of the Sacred Waters

At the height of the summer we open our hearts to receive the Chalice of the Goddess, her Grail of Initiation, connecting to the Lady of the Lake, High Priestess of the Summerland. At the sacred springs of Avalon we learn to use our personally decorated Chalice. Planning for group ceremonies and energy work at the 2006 Goddess Conference.

Circle Seven
Great Mother Initiation - Bringing our desires to fruition

Honouring Madron the Mother Goddess and Ker the Grain Goddess, we give thanks to the Lammas Mother for all that She gives us. We make corn dollies in the image of the Harvest Mother and learn how to make our dreams come true. Preparation for the Goddess Conference ceremonies: 1st - 5th August 2007.

Circle Eight
Isle of Avalon - Earth Initiation Ceremony

This final weekend in the cycle is spent creating and enacting a powerful initiation ceremony in which each person will dedicate themselves to the Goddess. We will be grounding all that we have learned and experienced together on this holyeste erthe in the sacred landscape of Avalon.

Between Circles trainees are expected to enhance their personal connection to the Goddess through daily prayer, journaling, by creating personal ceremonies, making ceremonial robes and by visiting sacred sites of the Goddess.

Please bring with you to Circle 1: A journal to write in during the year and sacred objects for the first altar.
